Bolt.new is a browser-based AI agent for building web applications. You describe an app in a prompt, and the agent scaffolds, runs, edits, and deploys a full-stack JavaScript project without any local setup.
It runs on StackBlitz's WebContainers, an in-browser development environment, so the agent can install npm packages, run Node.js servers, call third-party APIs, and deploy from the chat. The AI model controls the whole environment (filesystem, Node server, package manager, terminal, and browser console) rather than only generating code, and finished work can be shared by URL.
Bolt.new supports most popular JavaScript frameworks and libraries, such as Vite, Next.js, and Astro: anything that runs on StackBlitz runs on it. Usage is metered in AI tokens with a free daily allowance and paid plans for more tokens and private projects. The open-source codebase is also available for building other WebContainers-based development agents.
