01 / Summary

About Claude Squad.

Claude Squad is a terminal application that supervises several local coding agents at once. Each session gets its own tmux terminal and its own git worktree, so agents work on separate branches without colliding, and a single text interface lists the sessions, previews their output, and shows the diff each one has produced.

The default program launched in a new session is claude, and the -p flag or a config entry substitutes another local agent such as Codex, Gemini, or Aider. Profiles in its JSON config file name several launch commands, and when more than one is defined the session-creation overlay shows a picker. A -y flag lets every instance auto-accept prompts so work continues in the background.

Sessions are managed from a key-driven menu: n and N create a session with or without a starting prompt, D kills one, Enter or o attaches to it for re-prompting and ctrl-q detaches, s commits and pushes the branch, c commits changes and pauses the session, and r resumes a paused one. tab switches between the preview and diff panes.

  • Isolated workspaces: each task runs in its own git worktree on its own branch, so parallel sessions do not conflict
  • tmux-backed sessions: every agent runs in a separate terminal session that survives detaching and re-attaching
  • Agent choice: the launch command is configurable per session, covering Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Aider, and other local agents
  • Profiles: named program configurations selected with the arrow keys when creating a session
  • Review before shipping: a diff pane shows what a session changed before you commit, check out, or push it
  • Background completion: an experimental auto-accept mode lets instances answer their own prompts and finish unattended
  • Session lifecycle: pause, resume, kill, and reset stored instances from the same interface
