Conduit

Native iOS and Android client for Open WebUI, direct OpenAI-compatible, Ollama, and Hermes agents.

01 / Summary

About Conduit.

Conduit is a native iOS and Android app, written in Flutter, for chatting with self-hosted AI. It began as a mobile client for Open WebUI and addresses the places a browser falls short on a phone: authentication behind reverse proxies, streams that drop when the app is backgrounded, sharing screenshots into a prompt, and starting chats from the home screen. It also works without an Open WebUI server.

On first launch you choose how to connect, and you can add others later. An Open WebUI server unlocks the full feature set (chats, folders, notes, channels, workspace, tools, web search, and image generation). Direct connections talk to OpenAI-compatible endpoints (Chat Completions or Responses), LM Studio, Azure-style API versions, native Ollama, and OpenRouter. On eligible iPhones, Apple's on-device model and Apple Private Cloud Compute work without an API key. A Hermes connection shows the agent's tools running live, asks for approval before sensitive steps, and lists scheduled agents in their own tab.

Chats, notes, and drafts are stored on the device, credentials sit in the platform Keychain or Keystore, and traffic goes only to the server or provider you configure, with no developer-operated backend and no third-party analytics. For self-hosted deployments it supports every Open WebUI sign-in method (password, LDAP, manual JWT, SSO, and OAuth), custom headers, and reverse proxies such as oauth2-proxy, Authelia, Authentik, Pangolin, and Cloudflare Tunnel.

  • Multiple backends: Open WebUI, direct OpenAI-compatible, Ollama, and OpenRouter endpoints, Apple on-device and Private Cloud Compute models, and Hermes agents
  • Mobile-resilient chat: token-by-token streaming over WebSocket, search, folders, pinning, and temporary chats
  • Native rendering: syntax-highlighted code, Mermaid diagrams, LaTeX, Chart.js embeds, citations, and expandable reasoning and tool-call sections
  • Workspace screens: models, knowledge, prompts, tools, and skills as native screens, shown according to your permissions
  • Hermes agent support: live tool activity, approval of sensitive steps, scheduled agents, and scoped long-term memory
  • Self-hosted auth: password, LDAP, JWT, SSO, OAuth, custom headers, and reverse-proxy session handling
  • Voice: voice input with on-device or server speech recognition and a full voice-call mode
  • Home screen and sharing: widgets, quick actions, iOS Shortcuts, and share-sheet ingestion from other apps
  • Notes and files: offline notes with AI titles and enhancement, file uploads, clipboard image paste, and audio attachments
  • On-device privacy: chats stored locally, credentials in secure storage, and no third-party analytics
  • Localization: 14 interface languages and adaptive Material and Cupertino UI
