01 / About

What Desktop is.

Browser Use Desktop App is a desktop application for macOS, Windows, and Linux that runs a team of browser agents alongside your existing Chrome. Rather than replacing your browser, it provides only the agent half: it copies your cookies into a fresh Chromium instance so agents are signed in wherever you are, and you spawn tasks from anywhere with a keyboard shortcut.

The app is built on Browser Harness. Agents run on Anthropic models through a Claude Code subscription or API key, or on Codex through a ChatGPT subscription or API key. Inbound message channels can also start agent sessions; on WhatsApp you text yourself with @BU to send and receive agent messages.

Features

  • Agent-only design: keeps your normal Chrome and runs agents in a separate Chromium profile
  • Cookie porting: copies your cookies into the agent browser so sessions are already authenticated
  • Keyboard-shortcut tasks: start a browser task from anywhere on the desktop
  • Providers: Anthropic (Claude Code subscription or API key) and Codex (ChatGPT subscription or API key)
  • WhatsApp channel: trigger and converse with agents by messaging yourself with @BU
  • Platforms: macOS (Apple Silicon), Windows (x64), and Linux (AppImage with auto-updates, plus .deb and .rpm packages)
