exxperts is a local-first runtime for AI agents whose memory is opt-in and approval-gated. It is organized around persistent rooms: a room replaces a chat thread as a durable place where you set up an agent's tools, folders, connections, and skills, and the agent searches the web, reads pages, writes documents, decks, and web pages, and runs background tasks. You decide which tools each room may use.
Memory grows under your control. At the end of a conversation a room proposes what is worth keeping, and nothing is written until you review, edit, or reject the proposal. Approved items become lasting notes grouped by topic, and notes that no longer fit move to an archive the room can still read rather than being deleted. Each note records the day it was saved and the conversation it came from, every change is kept in a history, and a clickable growth chart lets you see what the agent knew on any given day. The context behind any answer is inspectable.
Everything a room is, including memory, conversations, credentials, and attached or generated files, lives as plain files on your machine, with no cloud account and no telemetry. An optional remote mode, off by default, serves only your own paired devices over a private tunnel. The same install runs as a desktop app, in the browser, or from the terminal against one shared store. It works with any model provider, so you can switch providers and keep what the agent has learned. Web search is built in through DuckDuckGo, with SearXNG as an option. It is built on the Pi runtime.
