Hermex is a native SwiftUI client for iPhone and iPad that drives a self-hosted Hermes WebUI server. The phone is the control plane, not the compute plane: the agent, its tools, and your data stay on a machine you control, and the app talks only to that server.
Hermex is a client only. It does not ship, host, or provision a backend, so you run Hermes WebUI yourself and make it reachable from the phone, for example through a tunnel or reverse proxy with real HTTPS, a private network such as Tailscale or NetBird, or the same trusted Wi-Fi network. A separate Bot Mode connects directly to a Hermes agent and requires Hermes 0.21.3 or later.
The app has no analytics or tracking. Push notifications are optional and off by default. When enabled, they pass through an open-source relay you can self-host, which sees device tokens, notification metadata, and ciphertext but never message text, server URLs, or credentials. Hermex is tested against a pinned Hermes WebUI commit and decodes server responses tolerantly, since the upstream API does not yet guarantee stability.
