HumanLayer is a coding-agent workspace that brings agent sessions, plan artifacts, and code diffs into one place for a team. Work is grouped into Tasks, each holding the sessions, artifacts, and worktrees belonging to a single piece of work, so more than one person can follow and contribute to the same agent run.
A local daemon runs many agent sessions in parallel on a workstation, and cloud daemons take on long-running work. State syncs through the HumanLayer API, so the same interface is available on web, desktop, and phone, and agents keep working after the laptop is closed.
The pieces are meant to be composed with what a team already runs. You can bring your own compute, development environment, and agent harness, or run the HumanLayer stack on a workstation or on remote workers. The desktop app is distributed through Homebrew, with separate instructions for Linux and Windows.
Features
- Tasks: group agent sessions, artifacts, and worktrees into one workspace a whole team can work in
- Versioned artifacts: research, designs, plans, and mockups are versioned, shareable, and tied to the task that produced them
- Session visibility: every thinking message, subagent tool call, and code change can be inspected from the high-level view
- Local and cloud daemons: parallel sessions on a workstation, with cloud daemons for work that outlives a session
- Cross-device sync: sessions sync through the HumanLayer API to web, desktop, and phone
- Command palette: keyboard shortcuts for creating a task, jumping to a session, opening an artifact, sending to an agent, and commenting on a selection
- Bring your own stack: compute, development environment, and agent harness are chosen by the team
