LobsterAI is a desktop agent app for office work that operates in your real working environment: local files, terminal commands, browser workflows, documents, spreadsheets, slides, IM channels, scheduled jobs, and project workspaces. Example tasks include building a local inventory system from Excel records, turning a spreadsheet into a visual dashboard, researching a market and producing a presentation, and screening a folder of resumes into a shortlist.
The app splits into two layers. Cowork is the LobsterAI session layer, which keeps local persistence, permissions, UI state, artifacts, agents, memory, and IM bindings in the desktop app. OpenClaw is the runtime and gateway underneath, which executes the agents. LobsterAI translates its own state (providers, models, agents, skills, MCP servers, and workspace instructions) into OpenClaw configuration and turns OpenClaw gateway events back into Cowork session streams. It is an Electron app with installers for macOS and Windows.
A Cowork session runs a long-form task against local projects, streams progress, keeps history, and asks for approval before sensitive actions such as file operations, terminal commands, or network access. You can create custom agents with their own identity, model choice, skills, working directory, and IM bindings, and reach them from chat apps or email. Sessions and app data are stored locally in SQLite, and OpenClaw workspace memory files carry preferences and project context across sessions.
