n8n-MCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI assistants structured knowledge of n8n's workflow automation nodes, so an assistant can design, validate, and deploy n8n workflows instead of guessing node names and parameters. It covers 2,951 nodes (838 core and 2,113 community), along with their properties, operations, documentation, and examples drawn from workflow templates.
Seven core tools search nodes, return node details at different levels of detail, validate node configurations and whole workflows, and search and fetch from a library of 2,352 workflow templates. When connected to an n8n instance's API, 21 further management tools create, update, test, version, and roll back workflows, manage executions, folders, data tables, and credentials, run evaluations, audit instance security, and manage n8n Agents.
It runs as a hosted service with a free daily quota or self-hosted, and works with Claude Code, Visual Studio Code with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, Codex, and Antigravity. For governance-sensitive setups, individual tools or individual write operations can be disabled to give a read-only deployment. Companion n8n skills teach Claude how to build workflows with it.
Features
- Node knowledge: 2,951 n8n nodes with property schemas, operations, and official documentation
- AI-capable tools: 267 AI tool variants of nodes detected and documented
- Template library: 2,352 workflow templates searchable by keyword, node type, task, or metadata such as complexity
- Real-world examples: ranked node configurations extracted from popular templates
- Validation: quick required-field checks, full validation profiles, and whole-workflow validation of connections and expressions
- Workflow management: create, update by diff operations, delete, test, autofix, and deploy templates to an n8n instance
- Version history: diff and roll back workflows using local snapshots or n8n's own history
- Instance administration: executions, folders, data tables, credentials, evaluations, and n8n Agents
- Security audit: combines n8n's audit API with workflow scanning
- Read-only mode: disables whole tools or individual write operations for governance-sensitive environments
- Community nodes: search verified community integrations separately
