Skybridge is a full-stack React and TypeScript framework for building MCP Apps and MCP servers. MCP Apps extend the Model Context Protocol with interactive UI views rendered from an MCP server inside a chat client, and Skybridge targets Claude, ChatGPT, VS Code, and other clients that support them. It sits above the low-level MCP SDKs, adding hooks, end-to-end type safety, and hot module reload.
The framework abstracts the implementation differences between MCP clients, so one app runs in each of them. Types flow from an MCP server's tool definitions to the React view in the style of tRPC, and React Query-style hooks handle state and communication between the user, the UI, and the model, including syncing context back to the model.
Development runs against a dev server with a local emulator, hot module reload, and a permanent tunnel that connects a local app to Claude and ChatGPT. For coding agents, Skybridge ships an agent skill, a CLI, and programmatic dev tool APIs to create an app, migrate an existing MCP server, or add views. Apps deploy to Alpic or self-host on any Node.js-compatible platform.
An example library covers e-commerce, travel booking, analytics dashboards, games, and a tutor app, plus OAuth examples with Descope, Clerk, WorkOS AuthKit, Stytch, Auth0, and Authplane, and component-library starters for generative UI.
Features
- Cross-client apps: one MCP App runs in Claude, ChatGPT, VS Code, and other MCP Apps clients
- End-to-end types: tRPC-style inference from MCP tool definitions to React views
- React hooks: React Query-style hooks with state management and model communication
- Dev environment: a dev server with a local emulator, hot module reload, and a permanent tunnel to Claude and ChatGPT
- Agent tooling: an agent skill, CLI, and dev tool APIs for building MCP Apps end to end with a coding agent
- MCP server migration: an agent workflow converts an existing MCP server to the framework
- Example library: e-commerce, travel, analytics, game, and tutor apps ready for ChatGPT and Claude
- OAuth examples: Descope, Clerk, WorkOS AuthKit, Stytch, Auth0, and Authplane
- Generative UI starters: component-library examples with pre-built shadcn/ui components
- Deployment: hosted on Alpic or self-hosted on a Node.js-compatible platform
