TrainingPeaks MCP Server connects a TrainingPeaks account to AI assistants over the Model Context Protocol, so workouts, calendars, fitness trends, and athlete settings can be queried and changed in conversation. It authenticates with a session cookie rather than the official API, which is approval-gated. The cookie is read from the browser or entered manually and stored in the system keyring or an encrypted file.
The server exposes 84 tools across workouts, analysis, athlete settings, health metrics, equipment, events and calendar, workout libraries, strength training, coach athlete groups, and multi-week training plans. Workouts can be created with a simplified interval structure from which duration, intensity factor, and training stress score are computed, or with a native TrainingPeaks builder payload. Dates accept either a calendar day or a planned start time.
Zone setters target the per-sport zone set and recompute bands with TrainingPeaks' own calculator, preserving the athlete's chosen calculation method. Zone sets whose method derives a threshold from a test result return TEST_BASED_METHOD and write nothing, since there is no stable threshold to set.
On clients supporting the MCP Apps extension, some tools also render an interactive view inline alongside their text answer, and on every other client the text output is unchanged.
Features
- Workout management: list, read, create, update, delete, copy, reorder, pair, and unpair workouts, with comments, private notes, and FIT/TCX/GPX file upload and download
- Structured intervals: build repeat blocks with intensity ranges and classes, and duration, intensity factor, and training stress score are derived from the structure
- Analysis: per-workout time series, zones and laps, power and running personal records, and CTL, ATL, and TSB fitness trends
- Athlete settings: read and update functional threshold power, heart-rate and speed zones, nutrition targets, and profile data
- Health metrics: log and retrieve weight, heart-rate variability, sleep, steps, SpO2, pulse, resting metabolic rate, and injury entries
- Calendar and events: races with A/B/C priority and CTL targets, calendar notes with comments, and availability windows
- Workout library: library folders, templates, and scheduling a template to one athlete or several at once on coach accounts
- Strength workouts: an offline exercise search plus creating, listing, reading, updating, and deleting block-based gym sessions
- Coach features: athlete groups and multi-week training plans that can be applied to an athlete's calendar from a start date
- Cookie authentication: browser extraction, manual entry, or an environment variable, with keyring or encrypted-file storage
- Inline MCP Apps: a performance-management chart, a weekly load card, and an interval-profile viewer on clients that support them
