01 / Summary

About Wegent.

Wegent is an AI work system made of a desktop workbench and a self-hostable web platform, joined by a shared backend. Wegent Desktop (also called Wework) organizes local coding work by project and task: a task view keeps the conversation, tool activity, tests, changed files, and diffs together, and a project-space view holds the task board, shared files, automation, and execution status.

The desktop coding experience is built on Codex. Electron hosts the app, and DeepSeek Harness serves as the embedded application and plugin runtime, with the product UI composed from a set of its plugins. A separate executor launches and controls Codex against the local project and reports status, messages, tool events, and results back to the UI. Wegent Desktop works fully on one machine and connects to Wegent Backend when tasks need to move across people, remote work machines, or server-managed executors.

Wegent Web is the browser interface for remote agents, which combine configured models, prompts, Skills, knowledge, and tools while the backend manages their tasks and execution. A self-hosted deployment adds shared access, permissions, model configuration, scheduling, knowledge retrieval, and remote-device management under a team's own control.

  • Desktop workbench: organizes local projects, tasks, sessions, files, tool activity, tests, and diffs
  • Codex-based coding: works directly with the code, files, commands, and development environment of a local project
  • Reusable agents: combine models, prompts, Skills, knowledge, tools, and collaboration settings
  • Project spaces: share task boards, files, discussions, automation, execution history, and deliveries across a team
  • Execution targets: run tasks locally, on remote work machines, or on server-managed executors
  • Automation: project spaces configure automation and execution queues for repeated work
  • Wegent Web: a browser interface for remote agents backed by knowledge services and tools
  • Self-hosting: deploy Web and Backend for team access, APIs, permissions, scheduling, and knowledge services
