OpenAlice is a self-hosted trading workspace for coding agents. It connects the agent command-line tools you already run to market data, research workspaces, scheduled tasks, and trading accounts, so an agent can research a company, test an idea, keep a thesis under review, or prepare a trade. Files, research history, and follow-ups stay in place between sessions.
Supported agents include Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, and Oh My Pi. Each keeps its own model loop and tool behavior and gains access to market data, fundamentals, news, and quantitative tools, with coverage depending on the data providers you configure. A desktop app for macOS and Windows bundles Pi, and a command-line installer and a remote setup path are also documented. A broker account is not required to start.
Research lives in reusable Workspaces, which are directories and Git repositories holding conversations, files, and history. Chat covers general research, AutoQuant covers quantitative projects and experiments, and Auto Prediction covers prediction-market research, each with its own interface. Follow-up work becomes a named Issue carrying an owner, instructions, and a schedule, such as a morning scan or a weekly macro review. Results land in Inbox with a path back to the session that produced them.
Brokers connect through the Unified Trading Account, which exposes holdings, orders, and account state. With AI trading enabled, an agent stages a proposed operation and commits its rationale, and a person reviews the operation diff and approves execution through a workflow the project calls Trading as Git. The project marks trading execution as beta and directs new users to simulator, paper, demo, or testnet accounts, stating that it offers no guarantees of correctness, reliability, profitability, or loss prevention.
OpenAlice runs on your machine by default. Workspaces are ordinary directories and Git repositories you can inspect, edit, and back up, application state is kept locally, and broker credentials are sealed at rest. The agents and data providers you choose still use their own configured services.
Features
- Bring your own agent: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, Oh My Pi, and other supported agent command-line tools drive the workspace
- Market tools: market data, fundamentals, news, and quantitative tools, with coverage set by the providers you configure
- Workspaces: directories and Git repositories that keep one line of research together with its conversations and files
- Specialist workspaces: AutoQuant for quantitative projects, studies, and experiments, and Auto Prediction for prediction-market research
- Issues and schedules: follow-up work becomes a named Issue with an owner, instructions, a schedule, and a run history
- Tracked: links research to the assets and topics it concerns, so related work stays connected
- Inbox: reports, questions, and updates from every workspace, each with a reply path to the session behind it
- Workspace Manager: shows who owns what, which scheduled work is queued, and how workspaces relate
- Unified Trading Account: connects supported brokers to inspect holdings, orders, and account state
- Trading as Git: an agent stages an operation and commits its rationale, and a person inspects the diff before anything reaches a broker
